The Leveson Report

Excerpt from his televised summary:

“There are truly countless examples of great journalism, great investigations and great campaigns. Not that it is necessary for the press to be pursuing serious stories for it to be acting in the public interest. Some its most important functions are to inform, educate and entertain, and when doing so to be irreverent, unruly and opinionated. But none of that means that the press is beyond challenge.

I know of no organised profession, industry or trade in which the serious failings of the few are overlooked because of the good done by the many. In any other case the press would be the first to expose such practices.”

Lord Justice Brian Leveson

A riddle

You are on a horse, galloping at a constant speed.

On your right side is a sharp drop off.

And on your left side is an Elephant traveling at the same speed as you.

Directly in front of you is a galloping Kangaroo and your horse is
unable to overtake it.

Behind you is a Lion running at the same speed as you and the Kangaroo.

What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation?

Get your drunken ass off the merry-go-round

Exercise for people over 50

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at
each side.

With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your
sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute,
and then relax.

Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags.

Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can
lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more
than a full minute. (I’m at this level.)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

What’s the best seat?

Question on aviation forum.

Best answer:

“Near a toilet, but by a window, plenty of leg room, easy to get to the aisle for swift exit, over the wing but at the front, by a top lass & near a sympathetic cabin crew who will keep your glass topped up. Away from children, tourists, drunks, the boorish & the bores.

I have never found this seat.”
